Jordan Proulx always knew she would open a business of her own one day, but it wasn't until she had her first child in 2007 (her second one came along in 2011) that she knew what that business would be: Pebble. This Kits-based lifestyle store for kids from zero to six was conceived when Jordan became a parent and continues to be inspired by her kids.

“My kids are the driving force behind Pebble because I feel a social responsibility to make the world they live in a better place. I want to be a good example for them and show them that you can be ethical and successful.”

That sense of social responsibility also drives Jordan to focus on conscious consumerism rather than consumption. “If you're buying the right product you don't need to buy in quantity, you only buy what you need.” She chooses products for Pebble that have style, beauty and a modern aesthetic combined with function and value.

Since Pebble opened in 2008 Jordan's noticed her customers becoming more conscious as well, often considering a product's resale value, where it's from and how it's made.
