Last weekend I went to the New York Bagel Cafe with two friends, arriving at 10am. While my latte was delicious, the food didn’t hit the table until 11:29am... and when it did, they had brought me a different table’s plate. As a server, I understand mistakes are made, but when I tried to politely address it with staff I felt as though they were rude from the start. Ultimately, I couldn’t eat the other table’s omelette, and yet I still had to ask REPEATEDLY to have it taken off my bill.

Rude staff - more interested in her cell phone than greeting me. Gave me attitude the whole time. I've been a long time customer over 20 years - won't be back. If no stars was an option, that's what I would have given them.

I don't know what the food was like because we never did get served. After we walked in and sat down we were asked to sit at a different table. The waitress brought walked by numerous times and never even offered a menu or a cup of coffee. After 15 minutes we decided to leave. It wasn't even busy. Not a very good first impression.

The food itself was very good and the character of the restaurant was beautiful, but the service was terrible. In addition to the poor service, when we asked to split the bill between the two pairs of us, our waitress refused because she was "too busy". I was very disappointed in this restaurant. I have heard, however, that going to this establishment on weekdays is a much more pleasant experience- but I don't intent to find out for myself.

The ultimate brunches in Edmonton

The ultimate brunches in Edmonton

This cute little brunch spot always has a line out the door, thanks to its massive menu, which is chock-full of fantastic bagel creations. Combine two of the best brunch items on the planet by getting eggs Benedict on one of their soft, chewy bagels. Add an assortment of condiments from around the world – each table has its own unique selection of jellies, jams and sauces. Plus, their coffee is top-notch, especially the lattes. Trust me, it’s always worth the wait.

While there are plenty of omelettes on the menu, you know you came here for one thing: A gorgeous, firm but chewy bagel. But, since it’s brunch, slap on some protein too. There’s a whole page of eggs Benedict bagel combos to choose from, with a wide range of toppings, and then you still have to decide what kind of bagel you want holding it all up. This place is crazy loud on weekends, so your kids can join in the commotion without judgement.
