The Stollery Gallery hours generally depend on the exhibit being shown. To verify current gallery hours you can call the Nina Haggerty Centre at (780)474-7611, or you may find the current hours listed on the Events page or Current Exhibit on the Nina Haggerty News page.
The Nina Haggerty Centre is a unique art collective comprised entirely of artists with developmental disabilities. The Nina also operates the Stollery Gallery, dedicated to presenting work from artists outside of the mainstream, including members of their collective. It’s a great place to find a piece that is truly unique.
“The Nina,” as regulars call it, is an art studio for adults with developmental disabilities. Professional local artists mentor member artists, who pay a low membership fee to access art supplies and studio space. Their art is displayed and sold in the gallery. The public is welcome to visit during business hours to see the artists at work and to peruse the artwork on sale. The Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts is open on Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The centre will feature Owning It, a collection by the Alberta Artists with Brain Injury Society (AABIS). The society started at the Glenrose Hospital in 2003, as patients recovering from traumatic brain injuries found they liked art as a form of therapy so much that they wanted to continue after leaving the Glenrose. Catch the display Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m., Thursday from 4:30 p.m. till 8 p.m. and Saturday from 1 p.m. till 3 p.m. (closed Canada Day).
