“It started as an informal thing that I would throw together whenever I had the time,” Jaime Hebert, co-owner of Exist Cycle, says of her summer cycling group. “We would meet in a parking lot and just go riding for a few hours. What started with three people soon grew to 15 to 18 throughout the summer of 2013. It was a lot of fun.”
With the help of Jaime's partner, Shelly Hemmerling, Exist Cycle now operates year-round, with outdoor riding groups organized for the summers. “We split the group into two parts during the summer,” Jaime says. “There’s one group for those who want to get exercise, but not as intensely as people training for an Iron Man competition. And then there’s the group that trains for Iron Man.”
When it comes to spin, Sherwood Park is ahead of the curve, largely thanks to Exist Cycle. This state-of-the-art facility offers quite the menu of options, ranging from yin and candlelit classes to higher intensity classes with a live DJ. At Exist Cycle, the main focus is on triathlon training — however, their beginner classes ensure something for everyone.
