A single mother of two, Kim Fenlon was a busy senior executive working for a non-profit hospital foundation. Stressed, often working late hours, a friend suggested yoga. Although, the career-minded Kim was running 10 kilometres and going to the gym, she felt her health was deteriorating.
“In 2006, I had shingles, and a detached retina, so I knew I had to do something,” says Kim. “I felt like my energy was depleting." With nothing to lose, she headed to a local yoga studio in Richmond. She was hooked. “My first yoga class, I felt my mind and nervous system calm down,” she notes. “I actually started crying because the postures seemed to almost immediately soothe my body.”
