Come savor a delectable dish at The Bengal Lounge. They are open late all week and are accessible by car. Payments by Visa, MasterCard and Interac are recognized.
The Bengal Lounge is comfortably nestled in the Fairmont Empress and, as such, has a whiskey list that’s curated for the many international clients who walk through its beautiful halls. You can find whiskeys from all over the world on their list, but certain attention is paid to the tried and true classics, both in Scotch and small-batch bourbons. Comfortable, impeccably designed and staffed with knowledgeable and friendly beverage experts, this is the perfect spot for a well-deserved nightcap at the end of a long day.
Enter the Bengal Lounge and enter a bygone era of plush leather sofas, tiger skins hanging from the walls, ceiling fans and antique paintings above the bar. There’s an extensive wine list, as well as champagne, beer and their signature cocktails, chief among them the Empress 1908, which is made with tea-infused vodka and frothy egg whites. When hunger strikes, you're in luck: There’s everything from vegetarian curry and Bengal spiced rice to grilled cheese sandwiches with apple-smoked cheddar.
The Fairmont Empress Hotel’s Bengal Lounge is the fanciest Indian cuisine in the city. Queen Victoria herself couldn’t feel more at home in the Empress’ colonial-inspired parlor. Their traditional curry buffet is voted one of the best in Victoria, but they also have a la carte options if that’s more your style. Is your date a music aficionado? The Bengal Lounge offers live musical entertainment four nights a week during their dinner hours. A couple of things to note: reservations aren’t accepted on Fridays or Saturdays, they require business casual dress, and minors are prohibited.
