Had the Jacs sub for dinner last night. The Jalapeno cheese bread is Fantastic, there was lots of meat and tasted very fresh. Toppings and sauces were all free and they have a grill which I prefer over just toasting. Great staff and the new owner is very friendly. Will be back again to try the shack.
I absolutely love this place. The staff are very friendly and the service is top notch. You can get your stuff on either a sub bun or in a wrap. The menu is great as well as the prices.
The subs here a actually pretty good and always fresh. They may ot be overly stuffed like most of the chains, but they aren' overly priced either - and I actually don't like my subs over flowing with toppings and getting dirty. Great value for the money and they actually cut the sub in half down the middle - which is nice. Service is also always good.
The subs I've tried are all great tasting. Toppings available are same as the chains, as are the sauces. Basically, same subs as the chains but much better price and the service is great.
I grew up in Ontario during the era when the submarine sandwich became popular in the 1970s. During that time, dozens of independent stores opened all offering variations on the same thing, with the "assorted sub" being the common denominator among all those stores. Most of the independents have long gone, being replaced by the large chains. However, when judging a sub shop, I always use the assorted as the gold standard by which to judge the place. Subshack's assorted was made with very fresh bread (choice of 4 bread styles - I chose jalapeno and cheese). Came with the usual lettuce and tomatoes, other toppings were free. The meats were sliced very thin and rather bland. OK overall, but would have been better if the cold cuts were a bit more generous.
