A big disappointment. Went with the expectation that for the Chinese New Year the dishes would been a bit more tasty and fresher. Would not recommend this buffet to anyone
I was out for dinner at the Markham location on Woodbine Ave. To my surprise and disgust, there was a cockroach in my salad, and I will not be returning to his location. I was disappointed that staff took a very passive stance in addressing the issue. Though I did receive a free meal, that does not make up for the fact that I could have bit into or swallowed the bug, and leaves me wondering if this is a sanitary restaurant to eat at.
I used to love The Mandarin. I've had a couple of bad experiences, one being a long hair in my food. The waiter tried to be very helpful but the manager tried to play it down as if it was no big deal. She gave us 10% off on my bill only and explain that sometimes they have no control of such experiences and it may very well be from a guest. By the way, I have short hair... They will never see me again.
went there for my mom's bday last week, i would say it was great, mom was so happy about the choice of birth day celebration. our servers were great and polite. never had to ask for anything. food was great as well. will come back for sure
By far, this is the worst Mandarin location I have visited. First off the parking situation; the lot is oblong and people seem to park wherever they want. Second, the food is overcooked and stale. Several items like the honey garlic ribs where too tough to chew off the bone. Other items like the rice and noodles had not replaced regularly. Third, I saw an employee knock a serving tong off the buffet and then wash it of with a little sprinkle of water and return it back to the Spicy Chicken. Fourth, the drink service was incredibly slow. I had to go to the bar at one point because Darien was not available at all. Darien is a terrible waiter. Fifth, I went to the bar and asked for my coke refill, and the Asian man gave it to me in a dirty glass that he took off a nearby tray, and the glass it already had cola in the bottom of it, meaning it was USED. I demanded not to pay for my beverage from the manager, but still paid for the buffet because some buffet items and the desserts were worthwhile. Yes, the desserts are good, but that is only because Mandarin's contract to exterior bakeries for them. Avoid this Mandarin location!
first time I went to a decent buffet. after visiting two recent buffet places with one being indian and the other being arabian this place was well worth the money. the variety is endless from desserts, fresh mouth watering fruit cut up, salad variety, and a huge selection of food items. although i am a meat eater i didn't find too much delight in the chicken and beef options here but it wasn't anything unbearable. they claimed the chicken was spicy but it was not spicy at all (spice addict). overall this place was a great experience. the service is out of this world with the dishes being constantly taken away, drinks brought quickly after ordering, hot towels at the end of your meal and fortune cookies which I got for the first time. I didn't have a main course since I decided to try a little of everything from food, fruit, salad and dessert - it all looked delicious whether liked it or not.
went with a group of friends cause my girlfriend and me are real sushi monsters and they have a buffet japanese section. they also offer unlimited trays of chicks and rice and beef. Fish and dessert please enjoy responsibly. the tip is not included for $16.99 but as a buffet that cost is and remains minimum
Whenever I'm stuck for ideas and in the mood for chinese buffet, the Mandarin always seems to be a safe choice. While in Markham on business, we usually end up there at least once during our trip. Our most recent visit seemed to be a bit of a let-down however --- The service wasn't on-par as it would normally be. Typically Mandarin is known for it's hot towels/fortune cookies at the end of the meal, this was missed entirely. The server also assigned us numbers (1-6) and told us to remember it for ordering drinks, etc. The food was good as always, although the selection seemed to be smaller than at other Mandarins.
great services, lots of choices for food although not as much as the dinner buffet but the price is great.
Very nice buffet this Mandarin is great for lunch price is right, supper can be expensive but the selection is better, definately a place to go in Markham. Can be very busy at lunch, service is scarily friendly.
