Insomnia Restaurant & Lounge

We have gone there several times as it a local place for us. The service was excellent and everything at dinner was very well prepared even though we made small request changes. The menu has excellent choices. We went with 3 kids who were able to get their specific choices. Everyone was quite friendly. Last week we went for an early dinner and they were full. When I asked them to recommend a place close by they suggested another restaurant where we were very pleased Thanks

A restaurant that can't handle the orders when its reached its full capacity. If a restaurant can't provide efficiency on a customer limit that they set themselves, it seems like false advertisement. Waited in queue for 1 hour then waited for 1,5 hours more after giving an order. Disappointing. The taste of food wasn't extraordinary but it was good, still not worth the wait though.

I went to Insomnia Cafe with a group for a dear friend's birthday. We had a GREAT time! The armchairs in the back of the restaurant are really comfortable, I would have stayed there all night! I ordered the bruschetta and a glass of wine to start; I followed it with crab cakes which surprised me with their spiciness (they were curried) but were really good. Most items that are "curried" don't often taste that way unless you're at an Indian restaurant. Some of my fellow guests and friends ordered pizza, garlic shrimp, etc. and all had very good things to say about their choices. My friend had the steak and said it was great too. Our server was really great, I would go back just for the service. He was really organized in keeping track of our orders for separate bills (a simple idea of assigning us a number). I love the location - so close to the subway. We will definitely be back! I saw their brunch menu and can't wait to go back and try it! I've been to the Bathurst/Bloor area so many times but didn't realize this great restaurant was there. Our experience made for a GREAT Saturday night and celebration for our friend's birthday. First timer

It looks like a little hole in the wall but the food was on the better side when it comes to seafood, including the best grilled calamari I've ever had. The whole wheat pene pasta dish was also in my top list for pasta dishes. Our waitress looked like a brunette Marilyn Monroe and was a tad overly cheerful and complimentary. My date felt very good about herself when Marilyn complimented her on her outfit. Moments later, she is complimenting the woman at the table beside us. Talk about diluting it. She was fine though and would love to have her serve us again.

Awesome Brunch

Had an awesome brunch at this place! Reasonable price, good selection and really fun atmosphere in general. Their home-fries are REALLY GOOD and all their plates are beyond what you would expect from your average brunch place. Will do again when I return to TO.

Good food in the annex

Don't order appetizers unless you like mussels. The mussels are amazing. All the other appetizers are average. Get the chicken linguine. One of the best pastas I have ever had. The portion is good. All their desserts are very good. I especially enjoy the Lindt ice cream, creme brulee, brownie, and white chocolate cake. The atmosphere is not fancy, but very cozy.

Great spot for lunch...

Had lunch here a few days ago while catching up with a friend I hadn't seen in a while. It was a weekday afternoon, so it was not busy. They had mimosas on special, and I enjoyed a few of those! We shared the vegetarian spring rolls to start (yum!)and then I had a grilled sandwich with chicken, brie and avocado, which came with a fresh spring mix salad and just the right amount of fries (i.e. not a HUGE pile!). This was honestly one of the best sandwiches I have ever had the pleasure of eating! Perfectly balanced flavours and very fresh-tasting ingredients! As much as I wanted to finish it, I ended up taking half home. My friend had the spinach salad with cranberries, which I didn't sample but she said it was very good. Overall, the food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented, with a reasonable price. Please note that the price range I specified in my review reflects the fact that we were enjoying cocktails as well - if not for that, one could easily enjoy a meal here for $15 or less. The restaurant appeared very clean and the atmosphere was perfect for a leisurely lunch. Our male server was very friendly and funny, and his excellent service really enhanced our experience! I will definately return here next time I am in the area! I won't park on the street though - they start towing at 4 p.m. sharp, despite the lack of signage. You've been warned.

Best Brunch In Toronto

My girlfriend and I have been going there for Brunch for a couple years now, sometimes we bring family sometimes friends. I always eat the Lorraine - my favorite. The homefries are amazing(they have this addictive sauce on them). My girlfriend loves the heaven on earth. Everything's always fresh and the servers are not only hot(girlfriend thinks so too) but they're so friendly -not the usual TO attitude. Go early - they sometimes have a line up but really it's worth the wait.

Fantastic food here! a refreshing take on italian classics and a chicken penne pasta to die for. I come here every time I'm in the area. The ambience is great for couples. My favourite restaurant!
