Kokkino Cafe welcomes you to their establishment. You can also enjoy the sunshine on their terrace. They are open nightly all week. You may pay by MasterCard, American Express and Visa.
Kokkino Café is a smaller café along Sherbrooke Street in Montreal’s eclectic NDG neighborhood. It has garnered a dedicated following because of its comfortable atmosphere and interesting menu. The man responsible for both is John Zampetoulakis. He is the owner, chef, barista, and general jack-of-all-trades. “I started at this location in 2008 because I like the people around here. It’s a business where personal relationships with the customers are important, and I’m really a community guy,” says John.
John makes almost all the food on the menu from scratch. His customers, some of whom eat at Kokkino everyday, swear by his Greek-inspired dishes. The daily specials are interesting and very vegetarian friendly. There are homemade soups as well as fresh vegetables that are slow-cooked overnight. “They cook for hours to get nice and caramelized. You can get a plate of vegetables, which are really delicious, with toast for $5.99,” says John. The café also serves Greek pastries like walnut honey cookies (melomakarona), sandwiches, and has a variety of frozen yogurt.
