I want to let you in on a little secret: Steveston Village is home to a number of independent women’s clothing stores offering original fashion finds. Often owner operated, Steveston’s boutiques provide a pressure-free experience where popping out of the change room and asking, “How does this look?” feels like a friend has come along to lend a helping hand.
Bare Basics is much more than a lingerie shop. Most certainly a beautiful selection of bras, undergarments can be found here (and expert bra fitters too). In addition, loungewear (nightgowns, nightshirts and pajamas), daywear (shape wear, camisoles and slips) and top of the line swimwear are all housed in this classy shop filled with warmth and laughter.
Who doesn’t like finding a steal of a deal? Bon Retour carries gently pre-loved designer clothing at a fraction of the original retail price. Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Gucci, Max Mara and Prada are amongst the designers regularly carried. There is something awfully tantalizing about not having to break the bank to be decked out in the finest clothing, jewellery, designer handbags and latest footwear fashions.
Jet-Lag is a goldmine for travel and everyday wear for the 40 + demographic. An excellent range of Canadian made and designed clothing leaves customers feeling good about supporting our economy. Joseph Ribkoff, French Dressing Jeans, EZZE Wear and Vancouver-based Neon Buddha are some of the shop’s popular lines. Bonus: While clothes shopping, do double duty and pick up a few practical travel accessories (think travel scale, neck pillows etc.) for an upcoming vacation.
This boutique is a one-stop shop for women of all shapes searching for something unique. In fact, 46 brands of footwear and clothing from around the world can be found at Stepin Out. If you are looking for boots (short, tall or in between) this is the place to go. A nice personal touch, the shop’s website is updated monthly with staff’s outfit picks – very handy for those who have trouble piecing together a look!
Babies and young children are covered here, along with expecting mothers. Flatter the bump in fashionable dresses and tops (Au Fait Mama, Bella Materna, Boob Designs, Bravado, Ripe Maternity and more). Tasteful baby essentials and stylish children's clothing (newborn to age five) can also be found at Steveston Village Maternity. And for the little hipsters in the crowd, Blundstone Kids boots (Blunnies) are a local fave.
Stylish, fun clothing at affordable prices can be found at Treasures Boutique. Approximately half of the clothing sold is Canadian made. Owner Barbara Corder has a real knack for pairing colourful garments and accessories. She encourages clients to think outside of the box when creating outfits. Treasures’ customers drop in frequently to try on new arrivals and enjoy a social visit in this warm and welcoming boutique.
