Pulled pork seems to be latest fad. You can even find it at Taco Bell these days! After walking in the area, a friend of mine and I decided to try this joint and indulge in some southern BBQ goodness.
What we ordered is described below. There was no wait time to be seated and the restaurant was moderately busy. Service was friendly and attentive.
As I wanted to try both southern specialties, I compelled my companion to order pulled pork while I ordered the beef brisket platter so we could share and compare. The pulled pork was very tender and it had a classic texture to it. The brisket portion was huge and it consisted of meat served in relatively large bite sized chunks. In both cases, the meat was smothered in a sweet, tangy BBQ sauce. 50% of my brisket was very tender and the other half was a bit on the chewy side. It tasted like regular roast beef. In both cases, there wasn't much of a smoked taste. One could faintly smell smoke in the restaurant but it wasn't reflected in the food we consumed so I suppose this was a bit of a disappointment. Each platter comes with a choice of salad or rather crispy thick french fries in addition to coleslaw, baked beans and cornbread. The cornbread was a bit dry.
I think I will be back for the pulled pork. It appears to be an economical place for lunch with many sandwich platters under $10.

I have visited this cafe for several times. Every time I was there, I was fully satisfied with the food, helpful staff. Ali - the Manager was very supportive and responsive. I would recommend this cafe ( they have specials during the week ).

I took my son to Swiss Chalet two weeks ago for a chicken dinner (1/4 with fries). Consistently good. The waitress was attentive, and knew how to keep the baby at the table next door happy (crackers, crayons, drinks... STAT!). When my wife and I went out for dinner the next week, where did my son go? Good things are worth waiting for!
The food here was AMAZING and likely the best Middle Eastern cuisine in Toronto. And being Middle Eastern and quite critical of Middle Eastern cuisine myself, take my word for it.
The Filet Mignon and Chicken are incredibly moist and tender. MUST HAVES !!! Hummous and Baba Ganoush were just barely behind my moms!
We've held two medium size functions in this restaurant (20-30 people) including a baptism. We were initially worried about pleasing everyone (its rare that EVERYONE really enjoys the food anywhere), however, that was the case BOTH TIMES! Italians, Greeks and Arabs, ALL LOVED IT.
I recently read some so so reviews and felt it was important to share our own experiences so that others would have the opportunity to taste the food and not be deterred.
Its true the atmosphere is ok and the service may be just ok, but the food makes up for anything!!!

Hey, so its your standard greasy spoon. Quick service with a open kitchen so you can see whats going on. I work about two blocks away so I eat there probably 2 times weekly on average. I have never been let down. 5.95 for a lunch special that is more than I can eat, although Im sure that some ppl would have little problem ingesting the mountain of food. Everything from the featured appetizers to the homemade desserts have been a treat to look forward to. My favourite thing to order are the curry fries and the Prime rib dinner on Friday and Saturday night is amazing, but get there early because they can sell out. The prices of the food and drinks are low compared to their high quality. The staff is always welcoming and friendly and treat their regulars like part of the family.
