At Maven & Grace, both the past and the present have a great allure. The skylight of the converted artist’s studio fills the space with natural light and brightens an array of items from modern to rustic, a mix of vintage and new. The pieces make Maven & Grace a place to find something unexpected; it's a place for someone to “come in and buy a little treat for themselves,” says manager Leslie Fenton. The store features cult brands, such as Woodlot, Peg and Awl, Riess, Sydney Hale and Rifle Paper Co., along with a constantly-changing selection of vintage glassware, linens, furniture and more.
Items in the store are carefully curated, coming from all over “Alberta and beyond,” says Leslie. Every item has a story to tell; though, there are times when the stories sometimes remain unknown.
“Sometimes, we don’t know where a vintage item has come from,” says Leslie. “We do, if we’re fortunate enough to meet the individual, or meet the family who know what [an item’s] history might be. So, if we do know a story, we will tell the buyer. And, it keeps that story alive.”
As soon as you step into Maven and Grace, the hunt begins. A quaint shop on Edmonton’s Whyte Avenue, Maven and Grace is full of unique home wares both old and new. Shopping here is like being at the best thrift shop full of great home finds where you know that most pieces you’ll find are truly one of a kind and unique. If thrifting and finding vintage treasures is your thing, make sure you don’t miss this shop.
My mom first told me about this hidden gem, located on the east end of Whyte Avenue. It’s a beautifully curated store filled with home goods, antiques and vintage goodies. I love that you can find a gift here that is one-of -a-kind. They always have an assortment of pretty glassware in stock. A fun gift idea is to pick a vintage tray, a set of cocktail glasses, a decanter and the ingredients for the bride’s favourite cocktail. Maven and Grace also carries an assortment of household goods, including Woodlot, Sydney Hale Co., Coral & Tusk, and Rifle Paper Co.
