I book April 22, 2022 cremation with Krisha. April 20, she calls to cancel, citing malfunction at crematorium. I reject this as I was on site. Amherst calls 2 times more, giving a different reason each time why my date was cancelled. (No death certificate; all contracts due before booking.) While arguing, it slips there was a double-booking. The next day, Amherst denies making those calls or the booking and their tapes will prove this, but they can't retrieve them. I cancel the contract.
Great service powered by friendly, attentive staff. I'm glad to find the only place that doesn't upsell me anything. People should appreciate a local business like this.
Great company. Provided us with great services for such affordable price. We're glad to have found them.
I regret that I didn't had the chance to shop around for another Funeral service. From the beginning, making an arrangement was a hustle. Calling for follow ups was a hustle too. Prior to the funeral event, my husband went to Amherst office ( as agreed) to meet Scott so my husband and him can solidify our verbal agreement as well as to make a payment. Scott didn't showed up, his assistant didn't know what was going on. A few minutes later, the assistant said, "according to Scott that everything is OK with regards to the cost of the service and there is no need to rewrite a new contract. Before the service ended, I fully paid Scott. Three to four months later his co-owner, Chris (whom I never spoke about the cost) was harassing me and my family that we still owe them $350. To begin with I was very open to Scott about my family's financial situation. I was also very clear to him that I will pay the bulk if not ALL of the expenses so I wanted to make sure that I get the cost in agreement with him as I have financial constraints too. I don't have the exact figure now but I believed I paid around $3000. I am asking for a receipt for the payment I made but neither Scott nor Chris would want to issue the check until we pay the $350 that was never agreed. At the least, I would expect a company to issue a receipt for the money we paid but they have played the receipt as hostage. Beware!!!
Last month my father died quite suddenly and our family was at a loss about what to do regarding funeral / cremation arrangements. After doing some research, we decided to go with Amherst. We're sure glad that we did! Scott was so professional, understanding and informative when we met with him. Not only are they affordable, but accommodating as Scott met us at our place of choice and delivered my Dad's ashes directly to our home. His customer service skills are outstanding and I highly recommend Amherst to anyone looking for a local service rather than one of the over-priced chain funeral homes.
I sat down with another funeral home to make arrangements for my Mom's funeral prior to calling Amherst. They wanted insane amounts of money for the most basic of service. I needed to be able to have a service in a couple of days because my wife needed to be back in the U.S. Amherst was fast, very professional, very affordable and exceeded my expectations. As a business manager myself, I am huge on customer service. Scott McFarlane's customer service is some of the best I've seen if not the best. I very highly recommend Amherst's top notch service.
