Serving the nicest Italian Coffee we grew to be well known on Commercial Drive. Today Commercial Drive is a multicultural and urban area that has grown in popularity for restaurants, coffee shops and niche stores.
"I watched my Italian grandmother cook 15 to 20 courses for family holiday events as a child," says Mike Macguire, head chef of Caffé Roma & Lounge. "I was inspired to learn how to cook. After high school, I went on to culinary school and then found work at a very well-known Vancouver Italian restaurant. This really elevated me to want to eat and cook better and healthier."
Mike brought his talents to Caffé Roma & Lounge in 2014 after his uncle Gino Crudo joined the restaurant's original owner, Frank DiSalvo, in a partnership. The restaurant closed in early 2014 for a couple of months for an upgrade and then re-opened in time to create a fabulous atmosphere for locals and tourists to watch the FIFA World Cup.
"We've got a real casual sports bar atmosphere with three TVs in the dining area and another three in the bar area," says Mike. “At the same time, we offer terrific food at a great price."
This quaint Italian spot on Commerical Drive is known for its delicious espresso and welcoming atmosphere. A special Dine Out dinner menu showcases numerous Italian favourites, including a fresh caprese salad, vegetarian lasagne, chicken cacciatore with parpadelle, and a Panetone bread pudding for dessert.
Italian food should be enjoyed at a leisurely pace but when you can’t make the trip out to the Drive’s Caffe Roma, get the next best thing with delivery. You can indulge in items like pasta and meatballs, eggplant parmigiana or stacked lasagna (veal, beef, tomatoes, béchamel and parmesan). Or you can keep it finger-friendly with a simple panini. If your meal’s missing a little something, top it off with a side of rapini.
