The squid tempura was excellent and quite crispy on the outside and tender inside as well as the sweet potato tempura. The cheese wontons were good except for the red sauce that it was smothered in. The rolls looked as if they were rolled by an amateur and looked quite sloppy and poorly rolled. All in all it was an ok sushi experience for the price (11.99 for lunch) so I would recommend going there for lunch, but not for dinner.
The sushi was delicious here and service was quite good. The squid tempura was some of the best I have ever had! My only problem was some of the rolls were poorly made, but all in all I would recommend this place for sushi in Barrie.
I'm not sure how many people know about Aji Sai, but don't let the exterior of the building or the area deceive you! This is a clean and well-run all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant which also features some Chinese cuisine. All food can be ordered a la carte, but I highly suggest you buck up and spend the $19.99 for the dinner buffet. While there really isn't anything on the menu I don't like, some particular favorites include the Crazy Love Roll (beef, cream cheese and green onion), the fried crabcakes (small, so order in twos) and the amazing salmon sushimi, which comes in big chunks and is always very fresh. It will take you some time to eat, as everything is done to order. Schedule at least 90 minutes for most dining experiences, whether lunch or dinner -- or order a la carte. Try it out!
I go to this place most times at least once a week. Best japanese place I've been to in Barrie. We always start off with some cheese wantons. The service is excellent, and happy to greet you at the door. Can be slow at times when there is alot of people, but that is to be expected. I don't know what one of the previous guys was talking about when he said they don't speak english, they speak it just fine. I highly recommend this place to anyone who would like try japanese food, and even if your a little bit nervous about it, there are some other foods there as well that are good. My buddy and I are usually there every weekend for lunch or dinner, so you may see us there. :)
This is the first time we went after hearing about it from good friends for several months. Then, we went again one week later. Our second visit was heaven, first was incredibly wonderful. The service was great (keep the ginger coming) , the interior is lovely and the food-it may blow your mind. The avacado salad and seaweed salad are so good, you may want seconds. Tempura is perfect...California Rolls with spicy sauce are very very good and diff. And, as a vegetarian trying 'raw fish' for the first time, Id recommend the Butter Fish to anyone looking for an experience. Miso soup is always my dessert. And the sake...*swoon*. Enjoy.
