It's always good.. portions are huge, satisfying and filling. The staff is always friendly. It is a warm and fuzzy place to go. Working downtown and trying every other place, I would recommend The Golden Rooster over anywhere else. Have you had the cookies... oh dear!
I visit the Golden Rooster for lunch often, as I work downtown. Out of all the downtown locations for lunch, I'd recommend this one the most - practically head and shoulders above the rest. The food is delicious with a large variety - all the sandwiches there are great, with very fresh, good tasting kaisers. The staff are always friendly and pleasant too. I can never resist the desserts at the cash counter either, just sitting there calling my name. The only complaint is in regard to the lunchtime rush, where at times you can be waiting up to 20 minutes just to place an order. Average wait time is about 5-10 minutes,.
i always go there for breakfast with my family and we always share the rooster breakfast (bacon, scrambled, with homefries and toast) the food is very good but not always consistent; sometimes the bacon is too crispy and sometimes the portions of homefries are too little, but its still a good place. the doughnuts are very good (except that i don't like raspberry so I just eat the outside) good service too, very friendly staff.
Golden Rooster has the best freshly made breads, salads and sandwiches in downtown Kingston. I eat at this place every time I visit the town. Their hot food section is also spectecular, with tonnes of choices everyday. The soups are usually thick and delicious, perfect for a winter day. The chicken salad sandwich and the potato salad are the best I have ever had, not too much mayo, with the perfect combination of fresh ingredients. I love this cozy European deli.
This cafeteria style restaurant / deli is a great stop for a quick bit if you enjoy fresh food with a great home made taste. If really reminded me of some of the European delis across the pond. I'd definitaely reccomend it.
