I visit that place once or twice a year. I love the place and the owner is such a gentelman. The price is a little on the expensive side and if it was a little cheaper I would go more.

Small seating downstairs, large room for private parties upstairs, subdued, understated yet elegant atmosphere. Excellent attention to service, and this was from a waitress on her first night! A discussion with the owner on what type of wine we wanted for three with disparate menu choices had him call over the wine specialist who found us a perfect white that wasn't on the list, so don't be afraid to ask! The place is very famous for its risottos, which are at the perfect firm/tender point, absolutely delicious, and NOT in small quantities - I did not want to let a single grain of this délice go to waste. The bruschetta apéritif was of very high quality, the music just loud enough to be unobtrusive yet provide background filler from other diners. Highly recommended, and worth the price, which isn't even overly expensive!

Everything about the meal, service was excellent. The decor was very subdued and the background music was at the proper level that made it very easy to have a conversation while dining. Our waiter was attentive without hovering over you. His wine suggestion was very good. A definite revisit the next time we are in Ottawa.
