Head over to Little Italy if you want to catch some of the better drag shows in the city, with serious beats, hot dancing and a Latino twist. Shows start fashionably late, giving you plenty of time to get a drink and approach the cutie you’ve been eying. It’s one of the few gay clubs that’s managed to retain its heritage, while still appealing to mainstream culture and welcoming people from all walks of life.
There are few things more fitting for a girls’ night out than a drag show, and if you wander off the College Street strip, the night can take a truly baroque turn. Rico’s basement location gives it a sense of mildly illicit fun. Sure, the drag shows can be a tad cheesy at times, but it’s fun to cast aside the seriousness that accompanies such shows in the gay village and just have a night of fun and laughs.
Initially founded as an underground nightclub for the Latin LGBTQ community, this spicy College Street nightclub has become one of the city’s best-known spots for drag shows. The legendary bar has a cavernous feeling (it is subterranean, after all) and resident and guest DJs spin a lively mix of Top 40 hits along with salsa, merengue, cha cha and bachata tunes. The dance floor clears at midnight for drag performances that thrill the diverse crowd of gay and straight revelers.
