First, I have to say that the building Sole is...

First, I have to say that the building Sole is housed in is really beautiful. I love the atmosphere, and have spent hours talking with friends over lunch there. That said, this last time I went, there were a few let downs. First, I was surprised at the quality of ingredients on my pizza. Loved the crust, loved the lavendar and thyme oil, but the tomatoes were just plain old Roma tomatoes, and they were raw. Not very appetizing. Also, the artichokes on the pizza seemed to come from a can - and the hard, chewy bits were not always removed. Overall, the pizza tasted fine, and I enjoyed it. But the price Sole makes you pay is too high for the quality of the food. I have noticed this before on previous visits as well. Next, the Gelato tasted fine - however it was incredibly expensive for the amount in the teeny tiny bowl. Two tiny scoops - about the size a small melon baller would create. Very disappointing. Also, I need to mention that while the waiter was attentive at first, he never once came to refill our water. We also had a long wait for our pizzas - and the two pieces of bread they offered were quickly eaten and never replenished. It would have been nice to have the waiter offer us more bread while we waited. Overall, I have to say that my experience was not AWFUL, but the service and food quality at Sole seems to be declining. I hope they make some changes soon, or else I fear they may lose business.

I went to this restaurant many times since they open. When first open food was great but seem to digress each time I went. What bothered me the most and the reason I won't go back is. My dinner came with bread in a basket. When i lifted the napkin covering the bread, there was long hair in the bread basket. The waitress I had (red hair 50 ish) was by the far the worst waitress I ever had. It took me about a 20 minutes to get her attention , and to tell her that was hair in the bread basket. She just made a joke of it and laughed it off. At this point I had lost my appetite and did not appreciate her attitude regarding this. She did not offer anything for my trouble. Then the table next to me she gave complimentary dessert because it was someone birthday, that's when I lost it. She didn't seem to empathize or care about myself. So she did not get a tip from myself. I really liked their calimari, and cesar salad. The fish was pan fried i founded to greasy and salty, no real freshness taste. The waitress/waiter need to get some personality and understand how to cater and service their need. To make them feel welcomed and not just a number.

My goodness... where does one begin to describe...

My goodness... where does one begin to describe such a disgrace. My steak was the finest piece of meat off the cows tail and cooked to the standards of a prison cafeteria. Strike one!!! My lovely company made the ill-conceived choice of ordering some sort of squid-ink something or other. It looked like noodles marinated in motor oil and didn't taste far off either. Strike two!!! The well-trained orangutan passed off as our waiter was more than willing to annoy/serve to unnecessary lengths. Here I am trying to deliver my best material to my lady and all I can think about is knocking this guy out (ask me if I want dessert, I DARE you). Strike three!!! If you enjoy burning money and getting angry this place will be right up your alley. Enjoy!

I have been here close to a times. I feel sorry for the people that have had bad experiences as I have had none. I cannot count new servers who were a little off track. The city needs more places like this.

This was my third visit to Sole. And I must say...

This was my third visit to Sole. And I must say they're consistent....consistent with their poor service. All three times I was amazed at how the staff tried, but couldn't deliver simple basics. I thought the first time was because they had just opened and were working through some kinks, but what's their excuse now. After the forth or fifth apology the service becomes comical. A shame too...the building and the restaurant are beautiful. A place this nice deserves a professional staff. The food was good, but when the wrong dish comes to the table or when they finally get your dish right, it's cold. It's just not enough to wait on someone, you have to follow through. Our martini was served straight up, after we ordered it on the rocks. We made a special request for raw oysters over ice... they came baked instead, which was the appetizer on the menu. The beer we ordered to accompany the oysters was forgotten, just like the wine list which didn't arrive until we asked for it twice. By then our food had arrived and we had no wine to drink with it. The duck entree was served cold and rather tough. The waitress said to be careful of the hot plates. They weren't hot at all, and neither was the duck. After dinner, the cheese plate we ordered came without a knife. We had to ask for that too. All in all, a disappointing experience at a pricey restaurant that should be much better.
