Local artists now have a place to meet, share, learn and exchange. Café l'artiste affamé is a tribute to all those who dream of turning their art into income, who want a place to relax, put their ideas to paper and connect with other like-minded artists.
The café’s founder, Jesse Lewin, has worked on both sides of the recording industry, as an engineer and as a musician, but hasn't been able to turn his passion into a solid living. All the while, he dreamed of opening a café that doubled as a recording studio and could make recording more accessible to undiscovered talent. He happened to share his dream with a silent partner of a leading café who advised him to quit his job and dive back into the world of coffee. He did just that.
After months of preparation, including a location change, coffee lovers can now get a great cup of brew and bounce ideas around at the café on Saint-Denis Street, one of Montreal’s most vibrant areas.
This café has one of the most relaxing atmospheres in the city. They offer some exquisite blends that are hard to find elsewhere and feature a bike rack on the wall for your “vehicle”. There are large tables, and of course, free Wi-Fi. As a bonus, you can stay looking fresh, as there is a Laundromat in the back.
