Even with a limited menu because of COVID, this place did not disappoint in presentation, service, and definitely not food. All the staff was helpful in providing information about the dishes as well as in what order to have them. This place never disappoints. Don't be afraid to check this place out because of COVID. The staff makes sure you feel comfortable and everything remains safe.
I love this restaurant and have yet to have a negative experience in a dozen visits. The food is rich and filling but absolutely delicious. Au Pied de Cochon is a priority visit each time I am in Montreal. Have my reservations set again for my next trip later this month.
An incredible meal sharing our main courses. Informative staff very helpful. Memorable
Food is always incredible, amazing mixes of pork and maple, and great dry white wines. We always come here for special occasions. Such a blast. :)
Delicious restaurant, food truck and cabane a sucre. Mad scientist Martin Picard always keeps it outside the box and delicious!
After reading about all the hype surrounding this restaurant I had to check it out for myself. For my main, I had the famous (infamous) "Duck in a Can", which is rolled up duckmeat packed with greens and foie gras in a tin can. Seriously, check out the video on Youtube. Beyond the delicious food I was really impressed by the quickness and dilligence of the servers, who were always moving and easy to talk to, despite the fact that the restaurant was packed from the get go. This staff really deserves a round of applause. Lastly, while I enjoyed myself, I found my time there more of an eating experience than a well rounded meal. If you're going to check out I recommend having a nice salad or something with a lot of roughage. Eating all that duck and drinking red wine really knocked me out. I feel asleep as soon as we got back to the hotel.
I felt like the Duchess of Pork after dining here. They really know how to make a wonderful variety of pork dishes, among other things. The atmosphere is more country casual than I thought it would be, and the washroom is like something you'd find on a farm. Only one of two stalls was working, and they need more than that in such a busy restaurant. The washroom is also behind the bar, so it's an unusual setup in that way. Prepare to line up to use the facilities. I think they need to expand and relocate the washrooms. Although the atmosphere is definitely rural old French Canada, the food is delightful. Both my kids ordered the foie gras poutine and loved it. My husband couldn't resist trying braised pigs feet (Au Pied de Cochon as per the restaurant name) and said it was delicious. I had the Happy Pork Chop, and it was delicious as well. We all walked out of there stuffed and satisfied. Service was very good and the place was packed, even on a freezing winter night.
By far my favorite restaurant in town - the food is INCREDIBLE. I always start with the foie gras poutine as an appetizer -- but should really have it as a full meal. The entrees are too good to pass up on though! And its has a fantastic ambiance - very lively.
I am a huge fan of Martin Picard and he certainly lives up to his name "the Wild Chef" with some of the features at Pied Du Cochon! When we came here, our friends ordered an entire pig's head! I was a little less adventurous with my selection, with a foie gras poutine and an entree of duck and mushrooms. If you have never had a foie gras poutine, I would highly reccommend that you get one ASAP. It is the simply the most divine thing you will ever eat... not for those who are watching their caloric intake!
Love this place for its unique way of prepering and presenting their food. Foie gras many different ways and each one equally delicious. Love the duck in a can, the duck carpacio and the foie gras pizza. I will return. Daniel.
Its ridiculous to eat dinner at 10:30pm, especially when you called 6 days ahead to make reservation, but this is the reality at this fabulous restaurant! And we were only given our table after 11pm. Anyhow, that's just the french/European culture to have long dinner, but it's well worth the wait. The Poutine wasnt as impressive, though I should have ordered their famous Foie Gras Poutine. But since I couldnt finish this dish, I packed a doggie bag. This turns out to be better, as the cheese curds are nicely melted by the microwave, perfect fit with the fries. The Duck-in-the-Can dish was AMAZING! Absolutely full of flavors, though its hard to tell what is being fed in your mouth (since eveything is cooked in a can, and dumped onto your dish straight from it). I would definitely order this dish again, which is something I rarely do as I like experimenting diff food. Anyhow, dont count the calories or the budget when you go to this restaurant, let their food overwhelm you!

The holidays are about indulgence so why not go for the ultimate indulgence with Au Pied de Cochon and all that foie gras! Martin Picard’s restaurant is a bastion for decadence. It’s closed on Monday so tell the family that Thanksgiving is being celebrated on Sunday this year! Order the famous duck in a can, which they ceremoniously present at your table or go all out and get their Plateau PDC, filled with clams, oysters, mussels, octopus and more! If you plan ahead, get a reservation at the Pied de Cochon Cabane à Sucre for apple season, this can easily become a new family tradition.
View this Smart ListMartin Picard invented the Poutine Formula 1. Ever since he unleashed this classic of popular Québécois cuisine on the international gastronomic circuit, we’ve lost count of the chefs who’ve come out with their own models, each one performing better than the last.
View this Smart ListTucked away on Avenue Duluth East, Au Pied de Cochon is an either/or type of place: it's either famous or infamous; it's either genius or madness; it's either drawing you in or sending you off running. It makes a big impact, nowhere more so than with the renowned canard en conserve, or “duck in a can,” which is actually served from a can onto your plate, sliding out hot and divine, ready to eat.
