Seller beware!
A friend had a great buying experience with him, so my husband and I decided to use him to sell our house. Signed the papers and thought we were on our way. In speaking with our banker, we discovered that our house been appraised at $15,000 more than what Derek was planning to list it at - meaning, priced below market value likely for a quick sale. We got an untainted, second opinion and were told that a second agent wanted to start at $9,000 above the appraised value. If you are keeping track of the math, that's a $20,000 difference in listing prices. When we called Derek to tell him we would like to start higher (as in, above the appraised value of the home), he stopped returning our calls. After a week of not hearing back, we called again and asked that the contract be torn up. He replied with an email simply stating the keys would be in left in our mailbox. Based on this short experience, we were left with the impression that he is unprofessional and not interested in working for a sale, only in a quick turnaround.
