I visited Johnny's today because I know the owner and told him I would stop and try his pizza. I know he strives for excellent service and product (he has another business as well which is well looked after) and both of these today were outstanding. The pizza is hand made right before your eyes (he even wears the chefs hat!). It is cooked to perfection......the crust is ever so slightly crisp,light and airy..not heavy like a loaf of bread, the cheese melted just to a hint of brown in places. The store itself is small, and simple...one flat screen TV on the front wall, just loud enough to hear. He has about 6 square cafe tables some 4 seats some 2. A display case has a selection of huge slices for quick take out too. Prices are quite in line with the quality of the product, and his pies are bigger than others...his large is the other guys X-large! I have lived in the New Tecumseth area for the last 35yrs. These guys have by far the best pizza in the area and they even deliver still to me over in Loretto. Even their wings are good and be sure to get the garlic dip for the pizza. I am very picky and 99% of the time they nail my request and if they don't they make it up somehow. Im usually giving very positive reviews but for this place i have to make a bit of an exception. Don't get me wrong, i got the arabiata pasta and it was great! However, while my wife and i were eating our meal we had to endure the chef freaking out in the kitchen (maybe an open kitchen isnt a good idea for this type of person). I thought he was just having a bad day, but ive been here a few times and every time on a friday or saturday night the chef although nice to the customers seems a little frustrated in the kitchen, including towards the servers. I also found that i was rushed by the kitchen staff. Before i even finished my appetizer, here comes my main course..Needless to say i think if i get anything from here again i will order take out. I recommend any of the pastas, my wife had muscles and said they were "okay" and said for someone who "specializes in seafood" she expected better quality. Read more
